Our Wine Producers all have Vineyards in the Hilltops Region, and are characterised by their diversity.
Ranging from large scale commercial plantings, to smaller boutique enterprises.
Quality is the keynote with wines and fruit sourced from the Hilltops Region regularly attracting major awards. The classic red varieties Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz are especially prominent but there is also a growing recognition of the Hilltops Region’s potential for Italian varieties such as Nebbiolo, Sangiovese and Rondinella.

Winery is open 7 days a week. With over 20 wines to sample this is an experience not to miss. The owner and vigneron Brian and his wife Sue are hands on and will take you through a line up of wines rarely seen in Australia. Nebbiolo is the specialty. Winner of the Gourmet Traveller Wine award for Hilltops Best Cellar Door for the past six years.

In 2002, Jason and Alecia Brown began their search for a vineyard from which to pursue their dreams of making world class Shiraz. They now have one of the largest vineyards in the region.
All of our wines are made at the Chalkers Crossing Winery on Grenfell Road in Young, NSW. We use traditional methods along with state-of-the-art equipment to create a truly exceptional product.
Barwang is a cornerstone vineyard in the Hilltops region. Founded in 1969 by the Robertson family, and later owned and run by the McWilliams family, it has earned a powerful reputation for its grapes and wines. Since 1990, Barwang has won more than 1,000 medals at Australian and international wine shows. Barwang has also been recognised as a 5 Red Star Winery by the respected wine writer James Halliday, an honour bestowed on only 3% of Australian wineries.
The Bowman family who has been farming this beautiful area of the Hilltops for seven generations and long-time neighbours to Barwang took over the vineyard at the end of 2021. They were struck by the incredible water quality on the property, only to discover that the name Barwang means ‘place of water’. They look forward to preserving this historic major vineyard, continuing to grow superior quality grapes whilst working with some of the country’s best winemakers to continue the Barwang heritage and reputation.
